More on The ESPN Sports Arena Inspection Report

I have already listed the NHL sports arena vendor violations in Canada, Chicago, Detroit, but I didn't say what exactly the violations were. I also didn't provide any more information on the violations in the U.S. NHL arenas.

Here is a list of the NHL arenas reviewed in the report by ESPN and how they each fared on the report. I also listed all infractions noticed at NHL arenas on ESPN's
report:

Arizona:
Jobing.com Arena, home of the Phoenix Coyotes
33% of vendors had major violations.
Inspection report excerpt:Inspectors saw an employee scoop ice with his bare hands instead of using scoops

California:
Honda Centre, home of the Anaheim Ducks
3% of vendors had major violations.
The one major infraction was for not having chlorine sanitizer in the kitchen's
dishwashing machine.

HP Pavilion at San Jose, where the San Jose Sharks play.
20% of vendors had critical violations.
At one vendor, inspectors saw Chinese Chicken Salad that had warmed to 60 degrees, almost 20 degrees above a safe temperature.

Staples Center, the home of the Kings.
11% of vendors had critical violations.
One stand dumped 9.5 pounds of sushi after inspectors found that it became too warm.

As I posted earlier, The Air Canada Centre and Scotiabank Place had no major or critical violations. The Bell Centre, home of the Montreal Canadiens, had 3% of vendors with violations, including a situation where food was found at an improper temperature. At GM Place in Vancouver, where the Canucks play,9% of vendors had critical violations, including a sushi display cooler found to be malfunctioning, the temperature of the Sushi exceeded safe levels, and inspectors also warned about one stand regarding properly heating donairs, which have been linked to E.coli outbreaks in other places in Canada. At the Pengrowth Saddledome, home of the Calgary Flames,14% of vendors had critical violations,including utensils and equipment at one location that were not being cleaned properly. Rexall Place in Edmonton had the most violations among Canadian NHL arenas,with 25% of vendors having
critical violations, including workers using contaminated cleaning items at one location.

Colorado:
Pepsi Center, home of the Colorado Avalanche
67% of vendors had critical violations
At one bar, Inspectors found phorid flies, sometimes called coffin flies, in a bottle of cognac.

Florida:

BankAtlantic Center, where the Florida Panthers play
67% of the vendors had critical violations
Inspectors issued many violations for soiled ice bins and coolers


St.Pete Times Forum, home of the Tampa Bay Lightning
88% of the vendors had critical violations
At one vendor with five major infractions, an inspector noticed an employee handle dirty dishes and then put away clean dishes without washing his or her hands or changing gloves. At the same location, there wasn't enough soap at a sink.

Georgia

Philips Arena, home of the Atlanta Thrasher
32% of vendors were found with critical infractions.
Inspectors found food not being protected from contamination.

Illinois

United Center, home of the Chicago Blackhawks
0% of vendors had major infractions, but Chicago health inspectors inspect vendors while the stadiums are empty,when no workers are preparing or serving food.

Massachusetts

TD Garden, home of the Boston Bruins
21% of vendors had critical violations
Storing dishwashing chemicals on top of an ice machine resulted in a major violation for one vendor.

Michigan

Jou Louis Arena, where the Detroit Red Wings play
52% of vendors had major infractions
Poisonous or toxic materials were stored on top of items used to serve customers, posing a potential risk of contamination.Inspectors also found roaches below a soda dispenser at one vendor.

Minnesota

Xcel Energy Center, where the Minnesota Wild play.
17% of vendors had major infractions.
Chicken strips for topping a Caesar salad were found at 105 degrees when they should have been at least 140 degrees.

Missouri

Scottrade Center, where the St.Louis Blues play.
no vendors had major infractions.

New Jersey

Prudential Center, where the New Jersey Devils play.
6% of vendors had critical violations.
Inspectors wrote that at one vendor, the manager" did not express adequate knowledge of food safety," and the sink lacked soap and paper towels, and there was no sanitizer.

New York

HSBC Arena, where the Buffalo Sabres play
8% of vendors had major infractions
Two critical violations for having a toxic chemical in an unlabeled spray bottle.

Madison Square Garden, where the Rangers play
61% of vendors had major infractions
At one vendor, inspectors found "53 mouse excreta"(38 on top of a metal box underneath the cash registers in the front food-prep/service and 15 on top of a carbonated-beverage dispensing unit)

Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum, where the New York Islanders play.
No vendors had a critical infraction.

North Carolina

RBC Center, where the Carolina Hurricanes play.
67% of vendors had critical violations
Inspectors cited one vendor after watching employees handle raw, breaded chicken while loading fryers and then handling food without changing their gloves or washing their hands. The employees put cooked chicken back in the same container used to pre-portion raw chicken before cooking.

Ohio

Nationwide Arena, home of the Columbus Blue Jackets.
9% of vendors had critical violations.
One of Nationwide Arena's major violations was for employees handling lemons, limes, and oranges with their bare hands while placing them on beverage glasses.

Mellon Arena(luckily the Pittsburgh Penguins won't be playing there anymore!).
55% of vendors had violations.
In one of the arena's higher-end clubs, inspectors found a live cockroach on top of a soda dispenser holster behind the bar.

Wachovia Center, where the Philadelphia Flyers play.
15% of vendors had major infractions.
Inspectors found traces of mouse and fruit fly infestations at one bar location.

Tennessee

Bridgestone Arena, where the Nashville Predators play.
59% of vendors had critical violations.
Nashville inspectors, who score vendors, gave the facility's lowest- score-75- to a vendor with 3 critical and 9 non-critical violations.

Texas

American Airlines Center, home of the Dallas Stars.
40% of vendors had major infractions.
Expired milk, brown lettuce and employees caught drinking or eating while they were working in the vendor were just some of the arena's violations.

D.C.

Verizon Center, home of the Washington Capitals
100% of vendors had major infractions
mice droppings, which is an important violation in Washington, were found at 10 or more stations.

    You really know a lot about this topic. It appears that the Verizon Center in Washington is a major offender...not a good place to buy a pizza!
