Mike Fisher and Carrie Underwood's Wedding

On Saturday, July 10th 2010, Ottawa Senators centre Mike Fisher married country singer and season 4 American Idol winner Carrie Underwood. The couple wed at the Ritz-Carlton Reynold Plantation Resort in Greensboro, Georgia, which includes 251 guest rooms and suites, six golf cottages,99 championship golf holes and an exclusive presidential house that costs about $4000.00 U.S. a night. According to a reservation clerk at the Ritz-Carlton Reynolds Plantation, the entire resort was booked for the weekend, and no other bookings were being allowed. There were 250 guests at the wedding, including Mike Fisher's teammates Chris Neil, Chris Phillips, and Shean Donovan, along with American Idol judge Randy Jackson, and former American Idol judges Simon Cowell and Paula Abdul. Season 7 American Idol winner David Cook and country singers Faith Hill, Tim McGraw,Garth Brooks, and Taylor Swift also were reported to have attended the wedding. The wedding ceremony included Mike and Carrie's favourite Bible readings and classical music. Carrie wore a lace Chantilly gown by designer Monique Lhuillier.

In a statement to People Magazine, Mike and Carrie wrote "We could not feel more blessed to have found each other and to have shared this day with our friends and family that mean so much to us." The couple signed their names "Mike and Carrie Fisher."

Mike and Carrie's wedding was very popular on Twitter and other social media. According to Trendistic, a website that keeps track of social messaging, at 8:00 pm on Saturday, Underwood was referenced in 1 of every 5,000 tweets. Carrie Underwood was also the most popular search on Yahoo's Buzz indicator. Google searches for Carrie Underwood were twice the normal average, and searches for Mike Fisher were more than triple the normal average.

People Magazine payed $2 million dollars for the wedding photos. Although the paparazzi weren't allowed to take pictures of the couple during the wedding ceremony or at the wedding reception, there were a couple of pictures that the paparazzi managed to take of Mike and Carrie as they arrived at the airport in Greensboro, Georgia to jet off for their honeymoon. I posted the three best pictures that the paparazzi managed to snap before Mike and Carrie headed off on their honeymoon.

(in this picture, Mike is standing beside a police officer. Although you can't see his face, Mike is the one with the black baseball cap on.)

Finally, I want to say congratulations to Mike and Carrie. They seem like a
wonderful couple, and I wish them all the best.
