According to TSN and Fox Sports Detroit, Chris Chelios is retiring from hockey and he will be taking on a job in the team`s front office. Chelios confirmed this after singing``Take Me Out to The Ball Game`` during the seventh inning stretch at Wrigley Field on Friday, which was dedicated to his late teammate, Bob Probert. ``It looks like I`m going to stay in Detroit and take a job with the Red Wings`` Chelios reportedly told a Chicago Cubs TV audience. The report from Fox Sports Detroit says that Red Wings GM Ken Holland confirmed the news. ``He is joining our team but not as a player. Title not determined`` Holland wrote in a text message response.
I think it is about time for Chelios to retire. At 48, he is way past his prime. He just can`t keep up with the young players in the league anymore.
